MANDALAY TO BAGAN CYCLING

Day 1 - Arrive Yangon (D)
Arrive in Yangon. Meet your Exotissimo guide at the airport and transfer to hotel. Enjoy your day at leisure.
Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2 - Yangon - Mandalay (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer to Airport for the flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival at Mandalay, welcome by English speaking guide and transfer to hotel for check in. (The bikes will be carried by car to the hotel.) Full day free at leisure with car and guide available for sightseeing.
Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 3 - Mandalay - Amarapura - Mandalay (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, your guide joins you on bike to ride out of Manadalay. Heading to the south-west of Mandalay, 18th century capital, Amarapura and visit the U-Bien's bridge the longest teak bridge in the world (1.2km). Proceed to Mingun by bikes and explore there.
In the afternoon, leisurely back by boat to Mandalay. Continue biking among the ''hidden'' places in Mandalay including a gold leaves workshop, Mahamuni Pagoda and Mandalay Hill to observe the lifestyle and daily busy life of local people.

Day 4 - Mandalay - Sagaing - Monywa (B,L,D)
After breakfast, your soft adventure biking trip to Monywa is begins, west of Mandalay via Sagaing. It is situated about 140 km to the west of Mandalay on the east bank of the Chindwin River is Moniwa, a typical Burmese town. Moniwa is the major trading centre for agricultural products from the surrounding Chindwin Valley. The Thanbokde Pagoda with its 6,000 Buddha images, the Boddhi-tataung Pagoda with its grove of 1,000 sacred banyan trees and the huge reclining Buddha are the main sights of Moniwa.

Day 5 - Monywa - Pakkoku - Bagan (B,L,D)
After breakfast, riding to Pakkoku via Myitche, it is a small village famous for local industry as Burmese slippers, woven blankets and paper-mache animals. Nice to know about Myanmar's cottage industry. From Pakkoku, take the private boats (bikes go on the boat together) to Bagan .

Day 6 - Bagan (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, full day of biking around the ancient temples. Morning sightseeing of Bagan features the colourful Nyaung Oo Market, the Shwezigon Pagoda and its magnificent golden stupa, Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite jatakas murals paintings and the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations. In the afternoon, observe the process of traditional lacquer ware, one of Myanmar's best-known handicrafts and a specialty of Bagan. Visit Ananda, an architectural masterpiece of the early-style temple with four impressive standing Buddha images, Ananda Okkyaung, one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the early Bagan period.

Day 7 - Bagan - Mt. Popa - Bagan (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, ride a bike to Mount Popa passing small settlements where men climb up the palm trees to collect the juice of it to make jaggery or liquor. Mount Popa has played an important role in Myanmar culture, religion and history since the earliest times. Mt. Popa is likened to the Pathenon of Greece as it is the abode of Myanmar traditional Nats (Spirits). It is fascinating to study how ancient Myanmars believed in Nats: 37 kinds in number. Its shrine is dedicated to the worship of the 37 Nats, the Burmese ancient animist spirits. The view over the Myingyan Plain from the top of the Popa-Taung Kalat volcanic peak is simply breathtaking. Late afternoon, back to Bagan by bike or by car.

Day 8 - Bagan - Yangon (B,L,D)
Continue biking tour in Bagan to the Myinkaba village and Minnanthu village. At Myinkaba village, observe the process of traditional lacquer ware, one of the best-known Myanmar handicrafts and a specialty of Bagan. Visit the monuments of Myinkaba village, Gubyaukkhi, an early period Pyu-style temple of Hindu influence with some of the oldest mural paintings in Bagan, Manuha and Nanpaya temples.
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to the countryside village of Minnanthu, the least visited temple area in Bagan. Observe the local farmers' way of life together with a visit to some of the most interesting temples such as Payathonzu, with its unusual architecture and Tantric Buddhism influence, Lemyethna and Nandamannya temples.In the evening, transfer to airport for the flight to Yangon.

Day 9 - Depart Yangon (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the day free at leisure till the transfer to the airport for the departure flight.
