Day 1: Arrival - Shanghai (D)
The journey to Shanghai by international flight, arrive Shanghai in the afternoon and meet friendly local guide, after dinner in local restaurant check into hotel for recovery of jetlag. Stay in the Golden River-View Hotel (4 star) or similar.
Day 2: Shanghai (B/L/D)
This morning start our Shanghai tour, which includes visitation of Jade Buddha Temple, one of the famous Buddha temple in this region, visiting Yuyan Garden (typical private garden of 500 years history in Shanghai),then enjoy own shopping out side of the garden in Yuyuan bazaar. Following lunch visit Nanjing Road (one of main shopping street in Shanghai and Taobao Market where you can find those knock-off products. Climb Oriental TV Tower (enjoy bird-eye view of new Shanghai) and take a walk along the Bund enjoying night view of Shanghai. Stay in the same Hotel (4 star) or similar.
Day 3: Shanghai - Beijing (L/D)
With a population of 12 million, Beijing, the capital of China, has been the country's seat of political power for hundreds of years and is known throughout the world for such awe-inspiring attractions as the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs and the Great Wall. Tian-an-men Square, one of the largest one in the world.
This morning go to Beijing by air. Upon arrival of Beijing you will met by a local guide and start today’s escorted Beijing Tour, which includes Tian-an-men Square, the Forbidden City, summer palace where emperors from Qing Dynasty stay in the summer. Enjoy a delicious Peking roast duck banquet tonight. After dinner check into the Grand View Hotel (4 star) or similar.
Day 4: Beijing - Datong (B/L/D)
Today’s schedule calls for an excursion to the Great Wall, 90km northwest of Beijing and Ming Tombs, the burial sites of the emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Temple of Heaven, where Chinese emperors made offerings to Heaven. After dinner 11:30 you will board on the express train for Datong (6.5 hours) (sleeping berth).
Day 5: Datong(B/L/D)
In the morning our friendly local guide at railway station will meet you, Today’s escorted tour includes Yungang Grottoes, more than 1500 years after their execution, are the masterpieces of Buddhist Sculptures. The 53 large sized caves are scattered over the southern foot of Wuzhou Hill, sprawling for over a kilometer form east to west. The hill looks like a huge honeycomb full of Alveoli. In the afternoon the tour continue to Nine Dragon Wall, the largest Nine-Dragon Screen of China with a history of more than 600 years, and Huayan Temple and shanhua Temple. Tonight check into Tang Capital Hotel (3 star) best available locally, or similar.
Day 6: Datong - WuDai Mt.(B/L/D)
This morning you will go for WuDai Mt, one of the four famous Buddhist Mt of China. On the way you will visit Hanging Monastery (shuankongsi), which is consisted of over 40 halls and towers side by side and suspended half way up the cliff in the Golden Dragon Valley, 50 meters high above the ground. The Monastery was built by the Monk Liaoran of Northen Wei Dynasty 1400 years ago and Yinxian Wooden Pagoda, which is made out of all wood without using single pieces of nail, it stands 67 M and has history over 900 years, known as “The Miracle of Chinese Architectures”. Tonight stay in the Friendship Guest House (3 star)
Day 7: Wutai Mt - Taiyuan (B/L/D)
WuTai Mt, one of China’s four famous Buddhist Mecca, where over 40 various Buddhist temple were exited from different dynasties. Mt. Wutai is believed to be the palace where Manjusri lived and preached and so most of statues found here are in his image. Today you will visit some of most famous Buddhist temples. Go back to Taiyuan before dinner time (3 hours). Stay Yinzhe Guest House 4 star or similar.
Day 8: Taiyuan - Pinyao - Xi’an (B/LD)
Following breakfast, you will head for Pinyao (5 hours) with private car. On the way you will tour to famous Qiao family Mansion, the residence of the famous Shanxi Merchant, Qiao Zhiyong. It gained its fame home and abroad due to the Chinese movie "the Red Lanterns". Afternoon your tour continue to Pinyao ancient city, one of the well-preserved ancient town like Xi’an, now it is also on the list of World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, from there you can appreciate the formation of ancient town and various traditional structure from Ming and Qing Dynasty. Tonight you will board on the train for Xi’an (8 hours)(sleeping berth) .
Day 9: Xi’an (B/L/D)
Eastern terminus of the fabled Silk Road, Xi'an is home to the Terra Cotta Museum. In 1974, while digging a well, a group of villagers made what was to become the greatest archaeological find of the 20th century when they unearthed fragments of a life-sized terra cotta warrior. Further excavation revealed thousands of warriors and their horses, an entire army designed to follow the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC) into eternity.
This morning your train slid into Xi'an railway station. Upon arrival you will tour the ancient city walls and the Provincial Museum and Forest of the Stele. Rest of day is for your relaxation in the hotel. Tonight you will be invited to enjoy a musical and dancing show of Tang Dynasty (618-907A.D.) style before checking into deluxe 5-star King Dynasty Hotel.
Day 10: Xi'an - Lhasa (B/L/D)
Today you will visit the Terra Cotta Museum, the site of Neolithic Banpo Village and historic Huaqing Hot Springs. This evening you will fly to Lhasa by domestic flight. Upon arrival meet local guide and transfer to the Holiday inn Hotel (4 star).
Day 11: Lhasa (B/L/D)
This morning you will be free to get accustomed to the weather and altitude of high plateau. After lunch you will go to visit the sacred Jokhang Monastery, a 1,300-year old golden-roofed shrine. Out of the Jokhang, you are right in the center of fascinating Barkhor area, lined with the stalls of an outdoor market selling all kinds of goods. Stay in the same hotel.
Day 12: Lhasa (B/L/D)
Today's highlight is a visit to the architectural and religious wonders of Dalai Lama's Potala Palace and his summer resort Norbulinka. In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the grand Sera Monastery, located a few miles to the north of Lhasa. Enjoy a Tibetan Song & Dance Performance after dinner. Stay in the same hotel.
Day 13: Lhasa (B/L/D)
Today you will go to visit beautiful Yamdrok Yumtso, one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, Yamdrok Yumtso lies about 100 kilometres to the southwest of Lhasa.On the way back drop to a couple of small Tibetan villages where locals go about their daily business. Then go to the western suburb of Lhasa to visit the extraordinary Drepung Monastery founded in 1416. Return to Lhasa in the evening and stay in the same hotel.
Day 14: Lhasa - Chendu - Hong Kong (B)
This morning you will be transferred to airport to take a morning flight for Hong Kong via Chengdu. Finish the whole China Tour.
Alternative: fly to Shenzhen by domestic flight from Chengdu (2 hours), upon arrival directly transfer to pier to take jet ferry boat (1 hour) for Hong Kong Tsim Sha Zui. (Cost can be reduced by this way)
